What Comes After the War on Drugs?

In April 2016, the UN General Assembly hosted a Special Session to consider the World Drug Problem. In a November 2015 report, described in this blog, Summer Walker and I analyzed major policy trends around the world - including the push from activists, like the one pictured, to end prohibitionist approaches - predicted the outcome of the discussions, and offered six ideas for strengthening that outcome. The report was based on a yearlong series of consultations with more than 50 Member States, 16 UN entities and 55 civil society organization. The full report is available here
